Baking Bread and Finding Success

Louisa's Story - Morocco

One of Grameen Foundation partner Al Karama’s client_alkarama_louisa.jpgnewest clients, Louisa’s first loan was for 1,000 dirham ($100). She bakes bread for her community and for the tourists who visit Oujda in the summer to enjoy the warm beaches. Louisa is married and has two sons and one daughter. She buys food and clothing for her children with the money she makes from her business. Louisa rents a tiny apartment in a government-owned building, the same complex where she was raised by her parents. She dreams of using her profits to purchase her own home one day.
